Position Description:

The Electric Powertrain Engineer will be responsible for leading the design and development of a new electric motor/ fuel cell powertrain solution capable of meeting power output performance requirements.  We are seeking someone with hands on Electrical/Mechanical skills to lead a team through engineering challenges. 

Your Day-to-Day (Job Duties):

  • Develop high power electrical powertrain systems
  • Derive component and subsystem requirements to meet overall system requirements
  • Interface with suppliers to select or develop required components
  • Lead prototyping and testing of electrical powertrain systems
  • Ensure that system and operational safety is maintained with high power systems
  • Demonstrate and document compliance with FAA certification requirements

What You Bring to the Team (Requirements):

  • 5+ years experience working with electrical powertrain systems
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering
  • Hands on Electrical/Mechanical skills are paramount to this position
  • Vision to see the big picture and system interactions
  • Experience in resolving system level engineering challenges
  • Capacity to lead a team of peers and management through complex and novel challenges
  • Experience developing high voltage / high power electric powertrains is required
  • Understanding of high voltage and low voltage systems and how to debug them
  • Hands-on technical experience debugging complex systems for software controlled electrical or electromechanical devices
  • AC motor control
  • AC/DC power inverters
  • Familiarity with DO178, DO 254, and DO highly desirable
