Position Description:

For this exciting and challenging new role, we are looking for someone who's passionate about advancing new technology in the field of aviation. Someone who's not afraid of doing something that's never been done. The ideal candidate will be a self starter who considers themselves a subject matter expert in this area. You will be responsible for leading the design and development of a fuel cell powertrain system. In this key position, you will work on engineering projects containing critical problems, the solution to which require major technological advances and extensive development.

Your Day-to-Day (Job Duties):

  • Characterize fuel cell performance and efficiency by generating operating maps, defining operating conditions, identifying design refinements, and executing durability assessments
  • Develop an accurate control system model for the fuel cell power system to predict, manage and control the power, reactants, product, balance of plant, temperature, humidity, etc and to monitor system health
  • Modeling and prototyping fuel cell system designs
  • Derive component and subsystem requirements to meet overall system requirements
  • Component selection for system integration and balance of plant
  • Interface with suppliers and industry representatives
  • Validate fuel cell performance through simulations
  • Develop test protocols for fuel cell performance and create required documentation
  • Establish procedures to ensure safety during development, testing, and operation
  • Identify and document failure and degradation modes and develop mitigating feature
  • Lead a team of engineers and technicians in accomplishing these goals

What You Bring to the Team (Requirements):

  • 10+ years experience working with Fuel Cells
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in related Engineering field
  • Team leadership experience
  • Experience with liquid cooled fuel cell systems desired
  • Experienced in using systems level design processes
  • Knowledge on state-of-the-art fuel cell and electrical components (Fuel cell stacks, Air handling, Battery, E-Motor, Inverter, Charger)
  • Strong understanding of fuel cell system failure and degradation modes
  • Previous experience with development of system controls is highly desired, including creating a predictive analysis model of the system, implementing the control system with applicable sensors and balance of plant, tuning the control system parameters and verifying the accuracy and effectiveness of the control system
  • Hands on experience with component level analyses of complex fluid thermal systems
  • Experience with utilizing appropriate software to efficiently analyze data
  • Knowledge of aerospace regulatory requirements and general design requirements for aircraft is desirable
